Home at last!

Trip back.
On the the day of our return our wake-up call was at 4 AM. We had roughly thirty minutes to sort ourselves and get ready for the car trip. My uncle Steve took us before he had to go to work and if you're reading this I thank you. You took off so much stress from our early morning return that as sad as it was it was still enjoyable.

The Airport
The queues for Ryanair check in were long when we arrived, but it wouldn't have mattered since we were there plenty early. I think at that time we still had 2,5 hours untill our scheduled flight. We got lucky though: as we entered the queue a lady was yelling out for passengers going to Finland and she escorted us to a "last call" queue which was short and quick. No idea why they thought we should be in a hurry, but it was a delighful quick step past the boring part of airport travel.

Having done our check-in we immediately went to the security check and although the queue there was semi-long it moved along very quickly and the staff at the conveyer belt we're absolutely fantastic. They were firm, but very polite and patient with us. Funny part about the liquids and one bottle in particular: the baby's juice. They let us take it, but they asked us to have a sip of it first. Probably just to check that the misty liquid wasn't acid or something. So amidst all that I had a sip and they let us pass. And they even remembered to thank us for being helpful.

At this time we were feeling like breakfast so we went into a restaurant which name I can't remember for the life of me, but it was a nice breakfast. A corner cafe/restaurant, I think it was American/Canadian themed right across from an italian breakfast cafe.

The plane
Once we arrived at the gate the queue was exceedingly long, but lucky for us we had priority boarding and as it happened there was only one lad in that queue so we got out of that and into the plane without a hassle.

Take off was a breeze and even our baby though so as she almost fell asleep before we reached our target heigh. Most of that trip went well, but as we started the landing sequence all bets were off and Julianna went nuts. Her ears were hurting apparently and there was little to nothing to be done for her, but comfort and wait for the last bump. Very quickly after landing, though she calmed down and everything was well with the world again.

Now without further ado I give to you some of the pictures from my (borrowed) Sony a65 SLR camera. We had one aperature with us which was 18-250 3.5-6.3f.

Last day

Routines.
It's sort of funny that every time I come to Peterborough I end up doing the same things all over again. Visit the same Costa coffee, browse through Waitrose, go see the Cathedral etc. It has almost become a routine that I do. Weird part is that untill now it hasn't bothered me. This time I dod want to rent a car but we decided it was foe the best not to try our luck on the roads of Britain. They are afterall full of borderline crazy drivers.

Headache.
Had one for two days now. Not all the time but today it came bundled with car sickness which is a total pain in so many ways. At thi very moment I am lying down on the bed in a dark room hoping it will pass soon so that all of today - the last day - isn't spent in a diminished capacity.

Money.
Spent it all. More or less. On stuff we won't need for long mind you. But it's our baby afterall. And who's baby is ever more precious than your own? 6 pounds for a knitted cap? I should start a business like that. Parents tend to spare little expenses when it comes to their progeny.

Broken.
Managed to break the laptop screen. Bumped something on it and part of the screen stopped showing anything. It's a shame though it was a nice laptop. We do have travel insurance but I'm still bothered by the hassle of sending it out to get checked and waiting for it to be fixed. :-/

Pics
I have little new pictures to share that aren't already on facebook and the SLR still has most. I'll do those when we get back though. Too much of a hassle to start now. So many pictures.

A day of cross country

Right - the ever magnificent London came and went. Now that's done we can calm down and relax for the next wee... wait what? OH MY. The wife isn't done shopping. So ok, we can expect a fair amount of franticly chugging the pushchair hither and yon in expectance of finding a bargain in clothes.. my favourite job in the world: lollygagging on a wooden bench while the Mrs. treats herself to a splendor of fabricy goodness.

I picket up a Pay as you go sim for the internet so I can use it whenever now... and all tjisonly 10 pounds sterling ;)

Today we had a peak in Queensgate, Peterborough - which is a large shopping center - and are currently browsing in Waitrose -  a more posh grocery store. Looks like we're gathering in our basket a selection of nice cheeses and maybe even a bottle of wine

Most of our pictures thus far from the trip are on my SLR camera which I can't properly empty yet so will have to wait till later for those. The battery ran dead after three full days of use and taking over 700 pictures. I already bought a travel adapter for the charger so today I will recharge it. Untill that time you can enjoy what my phone has seen:

First day like it's hot

So it's closing to the end of day one and we have had some although limited time to traverse the Waterloo area of London. We made some real battle plans for tomorrow! Most likely tomorrow will include the London Eye, Sea World and Madame Tussauds..

Now it's time to enjoy a glass of wine and take a warm bath cuz you know, we're old and friggin tired!

I'm sitting outside our hotel having a cider and listening intently to the older American couple next to me. Drinkin red wine and having a king size cigar they seem to be enjoying their time just sitting and talking. I suppose the opposite view of me would be quite different: A lad in his thirties wearing a Johnny Cash t-shirt drinking Magners and focusing intently on his cellphone - no doubt texting someone. Oh well appearances appearances...

Beat the queues..

Flying in a minute. Long queue but thank the Lords for Priority queuing...

Tomorrow it begins

Yes it is almost here!

THE HONEYMOON 2013

Suitcases almost packed and this time it feels like we have more space in our bags than stuff. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? Doesn't matter, we'll probably fill those suckers up before long in LONDON, BABY!
